The main characters in this opera are two princesses, Aida and Amneris, who fight for the love of one and the same man – Radames. Sooner or later all three face a choice: whether to stay true to their homeland or choose love.
Verdi lays a colourful palette of human relationships before us – faith, love, hatred, manipulation, hope(lessness) and betrayal. It turns out that the opera, which is considered one of the most spectacular ever written, is paradoxically rather constrained. As such, the small building of the Vanemuine with its intimate atmosphere seems an excellent setting for Aida.
Premiere 20.05.2015, the Vanemuine Small Building.
In Italian, with Estonian and English surtitles.
Attention! Limited visibility from rows 2 – 4 of side balcony in Small Building of Vanemuine .
